Things Are Changing Around Here

We’ve got big plans for this year. The farm is growing. We’re going to finally make some more upgrades to the house. We’re getting even more intentional with our market garden. And I can’t wait to share all of these things with you guys.

But one thing I’m really excited about is how we are planning to take our message to a broader audience.

It starts right here. With this blog.

When I first started this blog several years ago, I really didn’t know what direction I wanted to take it. I was finding my voice and trying to figure out what kind of story I really wanted to tell. I kinda had a vision of building an online magazine dedicated to country living and growing food, and so with that in mind, I named the blog after the old brick barn nestled in between the mulberry trees on our property. It seemed like a nostalgic kind of name that was still tied to our home here in Iowa.

But as I’ve grown as a blogger, so has my vision. The story I want to tell is becoming clearer now, and the purpose for this blog more in focus.

I’m changing the name of this blog to The Ealy Homestead because it better reflects this journey we’re on together and the story I’m trying to share. I think it’s a little more intimate, maybe even a little more welcoming. I want to dish even more about down home food and gardening and open the door even wider on what what we’re up to here on the farm. After all, we’re neighbors aren’t we? This is a community and I want it to be a warm place to visit. A place to share ideas and experiences, like old friends sitting around the kitchen table.

So a name change isn’t really a big deal, but this is only the beginning of things to come. There are a lot of ideas spinning in my head, so keep following along! And if you like what you see, share us with your friends. Let’s grow this community together.

If homesteading is a revolution, let’s change the world together!

Okay. Just getting a few things off my chest.

It’s cold outside. Bundle up and stay warm. Winter won’t last forever. I promise.

Be well.
